To honor and celebrate Shelly Beiting for her years of distinguished service as the Executive Director for the Columbus Women’s Commission.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is proud to honor and recognize the distinguished career and service of Shelly Beiting for her more than 15 years of broad leadership experience in the non-profit and public health fields; her distinguished career included employment with the City of Columbus where she has served as Executive Director for the Columbus Women’s Commission and experience in clinical dietetics as well as public health and international efforts in the Dominican Republic and Guatemala; and

 

WHEREAS, Beiting holds a B.A from Goshen College and an M.P.H in Public Health Nutrition from the University of North Carolina and has worked to address issues of poverty, having a deep knowledge of food insecurity and approaching the work by both leading programs and advocating for public policy efforts to impact Ohio’s most vulnerable populations;

 

WHEREAS, Beiting established herself in the Columbus and Central Ohio community as a selfless dedicated leader, mentor and friend; under her leadership, the Columbus Women’s Commission has influenced policy and promoted equity by increasing access to free menstrual products, mobilizing housing partners to address retaliatory evictions, and securing Paid Caregiver and Family Leave for City of Columbus employees;

 

WHEREAS, Beiting’s 15 years of service has raised the bar and established a new standard of excellence; she has come to embody the very definition of transformational leadership; and her legacy of devotion is not only an illustration of distinction, but an inspiration to all who have and have had the honor of knowing her; Columbus City Council and the City of Columbus are proud to celebrate her service and happy to join the community in applauding Beiting; moreover this Council thanks her family, friends, and co-workers for celebrating this occasion; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this Council does hereby express its profound appreciation and congratulate Shelly Beiting for her years of distinguished service to the City of Columbus as Executive Director for the Columbus Women’s Commission.
