Explanation

Background:
This legislation will authorize an appropriation of grant funds in connection with the Franklin County Senior Options home care program.

Additional grant funds are being made available to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging from the Franklin County Office on Aging for FY2022-2023

This legislation will authorize the additional appropriations in connection to the Senior Option Program for older adults in Central Ohio.

Ordinance No. 2291-2021, passed September 22, 2021, authorized Senior Options program funding FY2021-2022. This ordinance authorizes additional funding.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION:
Emergency action is being requested to ensure services to older adults can continue beyond October 1, 2022 through February 28, 2023.

Fiscal Impact:
To appropriate the amount of up to $2,100,750.00 to the Recreation and Parks Department for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging. This appropriation will enable the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging to continue the Franklin County Senior Options Program as required by the granting agency during FY2022-2023.

WHEREAS, the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging has a need to appropriate grant funds received from Franklin County related to the Senior Options program; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to appropriate said funds so there is no interruption of service to older adults, thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE
