Explanation

 

This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Public Safety to accept a grant from the Scheible Family Foundation in the amount of $10,000.00 for the Columbus Division of Police- In memory of Commander Tom Fischer.  The money will be used to enhance or improve the gymnasium at the Division of Police Training Academy.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Public Safety to accept a grant from Scheible Family Foundation for the Columbus Police Academy- In memory of Commander Tom Fischer; to authorize the City Auditor to appropriate $10,000.00 within the unallocated balance of the Division of Police grant fund; ($10,000.00).

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, in May 2022, the city received a grant from the Scheible Family Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant funds are to be used to upgrade equipment at the gymnasium at the Division of Police Academy in memory of Commander Tom Fischer;

 

WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual operation of the Department of Public Safety to authorize the Director to accept this grant; now, therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Public Safety is hereby authorized and directed to accept a grant award of $10,000.00 from the Scheible Family Foundation for the Columbus Police Academy- In memory of Commander Tom Fischer. 

 

SECTION 2. That the City Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to appropriate $10,000.00 to the Department of Public Safety per the accounting codes in the attachment to this ordinance.

 

SECTION 3. That the City Auditor is authorized to make any accounting changes to revise the funding source for all expenditures associated with this legislation.

 

SECTION 4. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, that this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
