To Celebrate the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts and Andrew Levitt aka Nina West on the Opening of Hairspray in Columbus

WHEREAS, Hairspray is an iconic, Tony Award winning musical, and;
WHEREAS, Hairspray’s 2022 North American Tour includes a stop at the Ohio Theatre; and
WHEREAS, the continued success of the Ohio Theatre is a testament to the work of the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts and the arrival of the leading Broadway productions is an invaluable economic and cultural asset to the City of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 production of Hairspray is led by an award-winning creative team and cast and will introduce the classic show to a new generation; and
WHEREAS, the cast is led by Andrew Levitt, who launched his spirited career as a performer, writer and artist with the legendary West Family in Columbus under the name Nina West before rising to international stardom; and
WHEREAS, Andrew represents Columbus’ values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is actively involved in the community, having raised over $2 million for LGBTQ charities and nonprofits through the Nina West Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Hairspray brings Andrew Levitt home for an incredible theatrical performance in the City of Columbus at one of our glorious historic theatres; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates the Cast and Crew of Hairspray, the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts, and Andrew Levitt aka Nina West on the opening of Hairspray in Columbus.
