Explanation

The Board of Health has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Health to fund the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program for the period October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023. Columbus Public Health has been designated as the primary grantee agency and administrator for all WIC programs in Franklin County. The grant funds awarded provide for a contract with Nationwide Children's Hospital for $825,977.00, for the staffing and operation of five WIC clinics at their facilities.

The contract compliance number for Nationwide Children’s Hospital is 31-4379441. Nationwide Children’s Hospital is listed as a non-profit organization.

Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.

FISCAL IMPACT: The Women, Infants and Children Program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health. This program does not generate any revenue or require a City Match.

WHEREAS, The Ohio Department of Health has designated the Columbus Health Department as primary grantee agency and fund administrator for the Women, Infants and Children Grant Program in Franklin County; and,

WHEREAS, The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will provide various services to meet all grant deliverables required by the Women, Infants and Children Grant; and,

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Health Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into this contract to avoid any delays in providing program services to meet grant deliverables, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, therefore,
