Explanation
Background:
Ordinance 1576-2022 authorized the expenditure of up to $300,000 from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund 2209 to expand youth employment and enrichment opportunities for at-risk boys and young men of color ages 14 to 24.
This ordinance is needed to modify PO343486 by extending the contract with The Ohio State University through to December 31, 2022. This modification is needed due to a delay in processing the agreement and additional time needed to process final invoices for expenses incurred. There is no change to the scope of services and the original terms and conditions remain in effect.
Fiscal Impact: No additional funding is required to modify contract.
Emergency Justification: an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Neighborhoods in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Director of the Department of Neighborhoods to modify PO343486 with The Ohio State University in order to process final invoices for expenses incurred for summer programming.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Neighborhoods to modify, by extending, an existing contract with The Ohio State University through December 31, 2022; and to declare an emergency.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to modify, by extending, contract PO343486 with The Ohio State University through December 31, 2022 in order to allow final invoice processing and closeout of the grant agreement; there is no change to the scope of services and the original terms and conditions remain in effect; and
WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council are committed to the mission and work of the My Brother’s Keeper program; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Neighborhoods in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Director of the Department of Neighborhoods to modify PO343486 with The Ohio State University in order finalize fiscal processing and closeout; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Neighborhoods be, and hereby is, authorized to modify, by extending, contract PO343486 with The Ohio State University to December 31, 2022, for finalizing fiscal processing and closeout of the agreement. There is no change to the scope of services and the original terms and conditions remain in effect.
SECTION 2. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
