To Recognize and Celebrate the Community Impact of the Eta Nu Nu Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Eta Nu Nu chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was chartered in November, 2020 to represent the large number of Omegas in Columbus and call them to return to service; and

WHEREAS, Eta Nu Nu quickly made an impact, having been named the Social Action Chapter of the Year by Omega Psi Phi’s Fourth District (OH and WV); and

 

WHEREAS, Eta Nu Nu has helped create resources for education, including a $200,000 commitment to I Know I Can to promote matriculation at Historically Black Colleges and Universities by students of color and the creation of the Omega STEM program at Johnson Park Middle School, which provides resources to facilitate STEM engagement; and

 

WHEREAS, their involvement in the community is evident, as Eta Nu Nu and Iota Psi provided over 1,000 hours of community service in the last year and sponsored the We are Linden Community Block Party to address violence in the community; and

 

WHEREAS, the Achievement Week Banquet celebrates these accomplishments and others that have had impact of the lives of Columbus’ African American community; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes and celebrates the community impact of the Eta Nu Nu Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and congratulates them on their Achievement Week Banquet.
