To Congratulate the Elevate You Foundation for launching their Inaugural Fundraising Gala

WHEREAS, Elevate You is a foundation created to fund scholarships for black, indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) entrepreneurs to engage programing provided by the Columbus-ESO, Urban Business Development Center (“The U”) and help young marginalized entrepreneurs establish better businesses and increase their wealth building capacity; and
WHEREAS, after 15 years of entrepreneurial experience, Elevate You founders, Kenny and Chris Crump, understand how intimidating and risky the journey can be for burgeoning entrepreneurs; and
WHEREAS, building a successful business from the ground up is hard work for anyone but it is exponentially more difficult for BIPOC entrepreneurs to start, scale and sustain strong businesses; and
WHEREAS, one of every five new businesses fails before its first year is over, and 70 percent close before the end of their tenth year; and
WHEREAS, the funds raised during the campaign will help the foundation fund sponsorships to send BIPOC entrepreneurs through business development training facilitated by The Urban Business Development Center; and
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council congratulate the Elevate You Foundation for launching their inaugural fundraising gala.
