To Celebrate the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc in Recognition of its 100th Anniversary
Body
WHEREAS, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. (NSPDK), is a nonprofit, educational sorority founded on May 23, 1923 by eight African American women who desired to establish a sisterhood among teachers and to promote the highest ideals of the teaching profession; and
WHEREAS, NSPDK is composed of well-trained and effective educators in all components of the learning spectrum who are engaged in training youth and adults to develop and enhance the skills, abilities, and ethics that will prepare them to function successfully in our diverse society; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Chapter of NSPDK, Gamma Alpha, works diligently with our youth, parents and various other organizations to fulfill their mission and provide scholarship opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the three thousand five hundred members and twelve hundred affiliate members throughout the United States will celebrate NSPDK’s 100th Anniversary throughout the 2022-2023 school and cumulate at the Centennial Conclave to be held in Orlando, FL in July 2023; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc in recognition of its 100th Anniversary.
