Explanation
This ordinance authorizes awarding $12,566.00 in summer programming funds to 934 Inc. 934 Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to provide relevant programming as a publicly accessible arts anchor within the neighborhood fabric of Milo-Grogan. It strives to foster an interest in the arts among all ages in the local community; provide a space for programming that showcases the skills of emerging visual and performance artists; and provide established artists recognition among the greater community. Funding authorized by this ordinance will go towards providing the 2023 934 Digital Garage Youth Summer Design Thinking Camp. This program is a five week summer STEM camp for Columbus high school students, facilitated by the 934 Inc. Pedagogy Committee and local experts.
The services being offered by 934 Inc. cannot be provided by existing city employees as they are outside the scope of the City’s current responsibility and capacity.
This ordinance also authorizes entering into contract with the above-named nonprofit organization for the above-described services. The term of this contract will begin on the date of a confirmed of a purchase order and will end on December 31, 2023.
Finally, this ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $12,566.00 from the Information Services Operating Fund for the above described purpose.
Emergency Designation
Emergency action is requested to ensure that the funds are in place by summer break.
Fiscal Impact
Funds for this transaction will be available in the Information Services Operating Fund with passage of companion ordinance 1542-2023.
