1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a professional design services contract with Burgess & Niple for the Alum Creek Trunk - Middle (Phase D) Sewer Rehabilitation project, CIP No. 650725-100029, in an amount up to $1,208,612.84.

This project will provide professional design services of the rehabilitation of approximately 14,395 lineal feet of 84" and 90" reinforced concrete pipe that has been determined to be in poor condition through direct CCTV and man entry observations. The scope of work includes production of a detailed design summary memo, the production of construction drawings and specifications, environmental permitting, bid phase services, and services during construction.

This work will be performed in Columbus Community Area 41 - Northeast.

TIMELINE & FUTURE RENEWALS
The contract and associated scope of services will be performed by the contractor until the scope of services is completed to the satisfaction of the Department of Public Utilities. The contract may be renewed and/or modified by the Department of Public Utilities with concurrence of the contractor and the approval of City Council.

This project will rehabilitate a sewer that is in poor condition thereby reducing the risk of potential collapse and the resulting overflows that may occur to homes or receiving streams.
