Explanation

BACKGROUND: Columbus Public Health has been awarded a 12-month extension for the Health Literacy Grant Program from the Franklin County Board of Health. This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate an additional $157,250.00 in grant monies to fund the Health Literacy Grant Program, for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024. The new total award amount is $280,421.00.

The Health Literacy Grant Program is an initiative to identify and implement best practices for improving health literacy to enhance COVID-19 vaccination and other mitigation practices among underserved populations. These additional grant monies will partially cover the costs of 4 grant personnel and fund new trainings and events for CPH staff and the public in accordance with grant deliverables.


FISCAL IMPACT: The Health Literacy Grant Program is entirely funded by the Franklin County Board of Health and does not generate revenue or require a City Match. ($157,250.00)

WHEREAS, $157,250.00 in additional grant funds have been made available through the Franklin County Board of Health for the Health Literacy Grant Program as a 12-month extension for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024; and,
