The following resolution was approved at the March 19, 2024 Columbus Board of Health meeting.

To amend Chapter 225 of the Columbus City Health Code titled Household Sewage Disposal Systems to include specific language regarding permit requirements in support of authorities granted to local health departments pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3701-29; and Ohio Revised Code Chapters 3718 and 3709.

WHEREAS, Columbus Public Health is the delegated authority to perform all functions to implement a household sewage disposal system permitting and inspection program within the City of Columbus; and,

WHEREAS, Columbus Public Health issues operational permits to all household sewage disposal system with in the City of Columbus; and,

WHEREAS, the Columbus City Health Code needs updated to include language regarding special operational permits issued by the Columbus Board of Health or the Franklin County Environmental Court as a condition of an administrative or court ordered relief to ensure oversight and compliance of such household sewage disposal systems; and,

WHEREAS, is necessary to clarify and correct Section 225.02 of the Columbus City Health Code, regarding special operational permits in order to preserve the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF HEALTH OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:


SECTION 1. That existing Section 225.02(g) of the Columbus City Health Code be amended to read as follows:
Sewage Treatment System (HSTS or SFOSTS) Category A operational permit, two hundred thirty dollars ($230.00)
(1) Permits are issued annually
