Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Recreation and Parks to enter into an advance pay grant agreement with Linden Block Party 614, dba We Are Linden, a non-profit entity, in support of the organization’s capacity building.
We Are Linden is a non-profit, community-based organization driven by a single goal - to do its part in making the Linden community a better place for all. We Are Linden builds productive relationships and changes the lives of individuals, families & communities through positive programs, events, and helpful resources.
We Are Linden catalyzes youth development, civic engagement, and positive relationship building in order to create and support equitable long-term community development and stability. We Are Linden uses a 2-prong strategy designed to reduce community violence by supporting, empowering, and providing high-quality resources to our young people in a safe and secure environment. Their activities and curriculum build together to support a strong and healthy Linden through youth mindset development and community connection.
Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Recreation and Parks operating fund 2285.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Recreation and Parks to enter into a grant agreement with Linden Block Party 614, dba We Are Linden in support of their capacity building; and to authorize an expenditure within the Recreation and Parks operating fund. ($100,000.00)

WHEREAS, We Are Linden is a community-based organization driven by a single goal - to do its part in making the Linden community a better place for all; and
WHEREAS, We Are Linden catalyzes youth development, civic engagement, and positive relationship building in order to create and support equitable long-term community development and stability; and
WHEREAS, We Are Linden uses a 2-prong strategy designed to reduce community violence by supporting, empowering, and providing high-quality resources to our young people in a safe and secure environment.; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Recreation and Parks is authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the not-for-profit Linden Block Party 614, dba We Are Linden, in support of their capacity building.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $100,000.00, or so much thereof as may be needed pursuant to the action authorized in SECTION 1, is authorized in the Recreation and Parks operating fund 2285, per the accounting codes in the attachment to this ordinance.
SECTION 3. That the funds necessary to carry out the purpose of this ordinance are deemed appropriated, and the City Auditor shall establish such accounting codes as necessary.
SECTION 4. That the City Auditor is authorized to make any accounting changes to revise the funding source for all contracts or contract modifications associated with this ordinance.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
