WHEREAS, George M. Walker, Jr. was a distinguished leader, public servant, and dedicated advocate who committed his life to faith, service, and the advancement of the Linden community, proudly assuming the esteemed title of “Mayor of South Linden” following the passing of Clarence Lumpkin; and

WHEREAS, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, retiring after years of dedicated service, embodying the values of discipline, sacrifice, and patriotism; and

WHEREAS, he played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Central Ohio through his service on the One Linden Advisory Committee in both 2018 and 2024, his leadership as a Board Member of the Greater Linden Development Corporation and the Greater Linden Business Network, and his instrumental contributions to the South Linden community; and

WHEREAS, his passion for enriching the lives of others was exemplified through his role as a Board Member of St. Stephen's Community House and as Co-Founder of the Jazz in the Park Music Festival, which fostered cultural unity and artistic expression in Linden; and

WHEREAS, as a dedicated public servant, George Walker, Jr. served with distinction for many years as a South Linden Area Commissioner, including in his capacity as Chair, where his visionary leadership and tireless advocacy brought about meaningful change for residents and businesses alike; and

WHEREAS, his influence extended beyond his immediate community through his active membership in the Knights of Columbus, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and American Legion Post #770, further demonstrating his commitment to service, excellence, and brotherhood; and

WHEREAS, George M. Walker, Jr. leaves behind a profound and enduring legacy-one that serves as an inspiration for generations to come. His contributions to the Linden community, the City of Columbus, and beyond will continue to shape the future for decades; now, therefore
