To Commemorate the Central Ohio Restored Citizens’ Collaborative (CORCC) Reentry Week April 21st-25th, 2025

WHEREAS, The challenges facing formerly incarcerated people during their transition back into society are far-reaching, including finding and maintaining employment, locating safe and affordable housing, obtaining reliable transportation, reuniting with family, accessing healthcare and mental health services, and dealing with the trauma of reentry which can lead to recidivism; and
WHEREAS, The City of Columbus recognizes the importance of supporting individuals who have been impacted by the justice system and are working to reintegrate into society with dignity and purpose; and
WHEREAS, The Central Ohio Restored Citizens’ Collaborative (CORCC) has been a leading force in providing critical resources such as employment opportunities, housing assistance, education and training, entrepreneurship services, healthcare, recovery programs, and essential needs like food and clothing to ensure a successful transition from conviction to restoration; and
WHEREAS, Reentry Week, observed from April 21st to April 25th, serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by restored citizens, to celebrate their resilience, and to promote policies and programs that facilitate their full reintegration as valuable and active members of the community; and
WHEREAS, The City of Columbus is committed to changing the narrative surrounding criminal justice by recognizing the efforts of restored citizens who seek to reclaim their rightful place in society, and by supporting organizations such as the CORCC in their mission to provide pathways to success; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council hereby commemorate Reentry Week and honors the work of the Central Ohio Restored Citizens’ Collaborative.
