Explanation
1. Background
The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service, received a request from American Structurepoint Inc. on behalf of the site owner, Lofts at 40 Long Limited Partnership, asking that the City allow an underground vault and two canopies to encroach into the public right-of-way. The Lofts at 40 Long is a 121 unit adaptive reuse of the historic YMCA located on Long Street. These encroachments consist of an underground vault located on North Wall Street, one canopy on West Long Street, and a second canopy on North Front Street. These building elements will extend into the public right-of-way as described below and shown on the attached exhibit.

The following legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Public Service to execute those documents necessary for the City to grant these encroachments and legally allow the underground vault and two canopies to extend into the public rights-of-way. Allowing these elements to extend into the public right-of-way will enhance the building and keep the original design. A value of $500.00 for the encroachment easements was established.

2. Fiscal Impact
The City will receive a total of $500.00, to be deposited in Fund 7748, Project P537650, for granting the requested encroachments.
