Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into contract with the non-profit Urban Land Institute (ULI) Columbus to provide planning support for an upcoming housing forum.

ULI Columbus is planning to host, in partnership with the City of Columbus, a full-day conference that gathers development and human services professionals, community and business leaders, and advocates alike. The event will focus on exploring efforts to address housing supply, zoning reform, and the best paths to promote sustainable, equitable, and dense transit-oriented development, with case studies from Columbus and peer cities across the U.S.

Emergency action is requested in order to immediately undertake planning activities in advance of an anticipated housing forum in September.

WHEREAS, ULI Columbus is planning to host, in partnership with the City of Columbus, a full-day conference that gathers development and human services professionals, community and business leaders, and advocates alike; and

WHEREAS, the event will focus on exploring efforts to address housing supply, zoning reform, and the best paths to promote sustainable, equitable, and dense transit-oriented development, with case studies from Columbus and peer cities across the U.S.; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to authorize a contract with ULI Columbus in order to immediately undertake planning activities in advance of an anticipated housing forum in September; now, therefore,
