Title
To honor and recognize Mrs. Velma Tanks for her leadership in the Shepard Neighborhood and with The Shepard Academy
Body
WHEREAS, this Council honors and recognizes Mrs. Velma Tanks who has been actively involved in the Shepard Neighborhood and with the Shepard Academy; and,
WHEREAS, for the past five years Mrs. Tanks has been an unsung hero. Her willingness to work above and beyond continues to be a driving force that sets a positive example for everyone she meets; and,
WHEREAS, during her leadership as the program coordinator for the Shepard Academy After School Program and the Shepard Community Summer Camp she has been instrumental in developing the following: Huntington National Bank Impact Program; Mid-Ohio Food Bank - Take Home Groceries; Salvation Army clothes giveaway; worked with Children's Hunger Alliance to feed children after school nutritional meals with the emphasis on fruits and vegetables; Little Chefs which taught children basic cooking, kitchen safety and etiquette; Toys for Tots; DEAR Program; tutoring and obtaining school supplies for children; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: that we honor and recognize Mrs. Velma Tanks for her leadership in the Shepard Neighborhood and with The Shepard Academy.
