To recognize and commend Assistant Administrator William E. Poteet for his 25 years of distinguished service to the City of Columbus on his retirement from the Division of Sewerage and Drainage on July 30, 2007.

Body
WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator William Poteet, P.E., began his career with the City of Columbus on July 19, 1982, after having already completed a quarter of a century in private practice; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator Poteet, quickly became an institution and force toward ensuring that the wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure owned and operated by the City of Columbus were the best in the world; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator Poteet, is widely known to be one of the most well-read and well-traveled employees the City of Columbus has ever had; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator Poteet, would work well past the normal business hours in an attempt to guarantee that each and every proposal, specification, engineering drawing, correspondence or contract were succinct and concise to the last detail; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator Poteet, has managed some of the City of Columbus's largest capital improvement projects including Project 88 that involved a massive upgrade of our wastewater treatment facilities; the Upper Scioto West Interceptor Sewer, the City's first project to use a tunnel boring machine; and several current major consent order projects at the Southerly and Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Administrator Poteet's body of pragmatic, hard work for the citizens of Columbus, leaves a lasting legacy of wastewater infrastructure improvements that were built by a man whose demanding demeanor has set high standards for continued performance and reliability for generations; and

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby recognize, commend and thank Assistant Administrator William E. Poteet for his 25 years of...
