To declare Columbus the Independent Art Capital of the World.

WHEREAS the City of Columbus is indisputably the Independent Art Capital of the World; and
      
WHEREAS Columbus is home to hundreds of self-employed independent artists, helping to create economic vitality and stimulating diverse small business growth; and
 
WHEREAS institutions of higher learning in the arts, museums, galleries, and an internationally recognized contemporary arts center all help create a welcome environment for independent artists; and
 
WHEREAS the Independent Art Capital movement is open to all and welcomes all forms of expression including dance, film, video, visual art, literature and music;
 
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
 
That this council hereby declares Columbus the Independent Art Capital of the World.
