Body

WHEREAS, the NMA…The Leadership Development Organization is the largest non-profit organization of a professional group dedicated to leadership, business excellence, personal and professional growth and fellowship to more than 25,000 members in both private and public industries; and

WHEREAS, NMA's objectives are to develop and recognize leadership as a profession and its leadership and management skills and to promote our community service program for High School youth focusing on the American Free Enterprise System; and

WHEREAS, the Columbus Public Service Chapter is a public sector chapter of NMA whose members strive to uphold the principles of the organization through lifelong learning, leadership development and skills training; and

WHEREAS, the Columbus Public Service Chapter was the first public service chapter and continues to be used as a model for other chapters nationwide; and

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus recognizes the importance that the exchange of ideas and discussion of lead ship challenges and solutions have on the vitality of the community's economy and quality of life through increased productivity, competition and growth; and

WHEREAS, June 1- June 7, 2008 is the thirtieth annual observance of Management Week in America by NMA,

WHEREAS, the international observance of Management Week will encourage leaders to increase their competence, inspire peers and foster better understanding of management and professional leadership; now, therefore NMA will use its national convention as a forum to highlight and promote leadership as a viable and thriving profession; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
