Explanation
Background: This ordinance authorizes the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a lease agreement with the Columbus Zoological Park Association to occupy and use the space as a research laboratory and offices for their Mussel Research. The property is located at 6006 Harriot Road, Powell, OH 43065 on the Jeffrey Club property. The lease will be for 2023 through 2033. This will replace an existing lease that has since expired. The agreement contains language that it can be terminated with 90 days’ written notice and is for one dollar annually. This lease will allow the Columbus Zoo to continue their scientific and environmental research.

Emergency Justification: Emergency Action is requested as the past agreement has expired and in order to ensure that the group is operating under a lease for legal and liability purposes.
