To Honor, Recognize, and Celebrate the Life of Don A. Sellers and to Extend our Sincerest Condolences to his Family and Friends

 

Body

WHEREAS, Don A. Sellers was a proud graduate of Linden-McKinley High School where he was a basketball player who helped lead the Panthers to a state title in 1977; and

 

WHEREAS, having previously worked as an NBA scout and evaluator for esteemed teams such as the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers, and having also held coaching positions in the Chinese Basketball Association, Lebanese Basketball Association, and the Hong Kong National team, Don’s extensive background in basketball allowed his expertise to constantly be on full display; and

 

WHEREAS, Don A. Sellers had an illustrious career as the former director of player development and coach for the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters, further demonstrating his contributions to the sport of basketball; and

 

WHEREAS, he was also a valuable member of coaching staffs for minor league championship teams in Rochester, New York, and Yakima, Washington; and

                     

WHEREAS, in 2019, Don A. Sellers was inducted into the Greater Columbus Basketball Legends Association Hall of Fame; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Don A. Sellers consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the advancement, education, and nurturing of every child under his tutelage, investing his time and expertise to foster their growth and development; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: This Council respectfully acknowledges and commemorates the life of Don A. Sellers, recognizing his meaningful contributions to his community, and this Council extends our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
