Celebrating The Ohio State University’s 2023-2024 Women’s Ice Hockey Team

WHEREAS, The Ohio State University’s Women’s Ice Hockey team has made it to their third title game and taken their second victory in three years at the NCAA championships with a score of 1-0 in the championship game; and

 

WHEREAS, head coach Natalie Muzerall has led this program for its last 8 seasons, leading the

acclaimed team to their first historic victory in 2021 and a return as runner up in 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, The Women’s Ice Hockey team has completed their season with a 35-4-0 overall record and 26-2-0 conference record for this season with 18 home wins and 14 away wins; and

 

WHEREAS, Raygan Kirk, an OSU senior, earned the Frozen Four 2024 Most Outstanding Player award for her prowess in the goaltender position and strong defense throughout the series; and

 

WHEREAS, Joy Dunne, an OSU freshman, earned the Julie Chu Women’s National Rookie of the Year Award for her 2023-2024 season and made the sole goal of their championship game off two assists; and

 

WHEREAS, Columbus is proud to be home to many dominant women’s sports teams including many of The Ohio State University’s athletics teams; and

 

WHEREAS, teams like OSU’s Women’s Ice Hockey team continue to inspire girls, women and athletes across the state and nation to participate and find a home in sports; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this Council does hereby celebrate the tremendous victory of The Ohio State University’s 2023-2024 Women’s Ice Hockey team and congratulates them on their second national NCAA title.
