Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance accepts a grant from the Chris Soteriades Charitable Fund of The Columbus Foundation in the amount of $634.00 for the Columbus Division of Police. The money will be designated to the Columbus Division of Police Mounted Unit, for the care of the horses.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Public Safety to accept a grant from Chris Soteriades Charitable Fund of The Columbus Foundation; and to authorize the City Auditor to appropriate $634.00 within the unallocated balance of the Division of Police grant fund ($634.00).
Body
WHEREAS, in April 2024, the city received a grant from the Chris Soteriades Charitable Fund of The Columbus Foundation; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety to authorize the Director to accept this grant; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Public Safety is hereby authorized and directed to accept a grant award of $634.00 from the Chris Soteriades Charitable Fund of The Columbus Foundation.
SECTION 2. That the City Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to appropriate $634.00 to the Department of Public Safety per the accounting codes in the attachment to this ordinance.
SECTION 3. That the City Auditor is authorized to make any accounting changes to revise the funding source for all expenditures associated with this legislation.
SECTION 4. That all funds necessary to carry out the purposes stated herein are hereby deemed appropriated in an amount not to exceed the available cash balance in the funds.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance authorizes the appropriation of any grant received for the Division of Police Mounted Unit upon receipt of cash.
