To Congratulate Docille Mycomyiza as the 2024 George Meany Awards Youth Services Award Recipient.
Body
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country, is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards, named after the late George Meany, former President of the national AFL-CIO, are presented by the Central Ohio AFL-CIO to a labor person for outstanding leadership and support of health, welfare, and recreation services to the Central Ohio Community; and
WHEREAS, Docille Micomyiza is a student at Northland High School and through his community involvement he has succeeded in bringing the community together; and
WHEREAS, Docille serves as the Vice President of the Boys and Girls Club at Northland High School, where he organizes events to engage participants in community service, leadership, and team building programs; and
WHEREAS, through these activies, Docille’s work uplifts youth and gives all people in the community an opportunity to develop crucial skills, build relationships, and thrive; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we hereby congratulate Docille Mycomyiza as the 2024 Youth Services Award recipient.
