To Celebrate the 2024 OhioHealth Capital City Half and Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K

 

Body

WHEREAS, since 2004, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has been one of Columbus’ premier racing events for runners, walkers, and everyone in between; and

WHEREAS, beyond providing a rewarding physical challenge, the race day is notable for offering “the Best Tour of Columbus on Two Feet”, taking participants through Columbus’ vibrant neighborhoods and past some of Ohio’s most iconic landmarks; and

WHEREAS, Cap City has developed into a premier destination for runners and walkers from around the country, bringing more than 12,000 race day participants to Columbus and helping generate more than $7.5 million in economic impacts, supporting local businesses and venues along the race course and beyond; and

 

WHEREAS, philanthropy has always been at the heart of Cap City, with proceeds supporting community initiatives like the Columbus Promise and OhioHealth’s innovative cancer support programs; and

 

WHEREAS, on April 27, 2024, runners and walkers will again take to the streets of Columbus for the 21st running of the Capital City Half Marathon, with a quarter marathon and 5K offered to allow participants of all ability levels to participate; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus thanks the leadership of the OhioHealth Capital City Half and Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K for organizing a fantastic event that brings the community together, supports the economy of our region, and provides funding for worthy causes and encourages all residents to get involved as a runner, walker, volunteer, or spectator; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates the OhioHealth Capital City Half and Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K.
