To recognize the leadership and service of Carla Williams-Scott, the first Director of the City of Columbus’ Department of Neighborhoods.

Body
WHEREAS, Carla Williams-Scott first served the city of Columbus as the Deputy Director of the Community Relations Commission and as the Community Affairs Coordinator for Mayor Michael B. Coleman; and,
WHEREAS, Carla went on to serve as the Assistant Director for the Department of Development’s Neighborhood Services division, where she helped oversee the department’s legislation, contracts, and management of Neighborhood Pride Centers and Liaisons, ensuring every resident has access to city services in their community; and,
WHEREAS, Carla left the city for a time to serve the entire Franklin County area, working in both the department of Job and Family Services and the department of Economic Development and Community Partnerships, where she worked to support local community-based organizations, assisted low-income residents obtain full-time jobs, and managed publicly funded child care and development support services for the county; and,
WHEREAS, she was appointed the first ever Director of the Department of Neighborhoods in June of 2016; and,
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Director Williams-Scott, the Department has achieved some incredible milestones, included but not limited to: renovating and moving into a new office in the heart of Linden, growing with the city through increases in personnel and budget and area commissions, refreshing and improving the city’s 311 system, and ensuring necessities were continuously provided to the community through the COVID-19 pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, Director Williams-Scott was instrumental in the formulation and beginning implementation of the One Linden and Envision Hilltop Plans, cohesive community plans focused on guiding development and revitalization in historically disinvested neighborhoods; and,
