Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to issue a purchase order for the purchase of an excavator from Ohio Machinery Co. dba Ohio Cat under the terms and conditions of a State of Ohio Term Contract #STS 778515H. This excavator will be used by the Division of Power and Water (Power) personnel for digging in remote and limited access areas. Several excavators were tested and the Caterpillar Model 304C CR 3 best met the division's needs. Ohio Cat is the sole distributor in Ohio for this equipment and it is available under the terms of the aforementioned state term contract. The City of Columbus does not include this equipment on any Universal Term Contract. The funding on this legislation is based on a quote dated April 23, 2008 and is the State of Ohio contract pricing. Fleet Management has approved this purchase.
Ohio Machinery Co. dba Ohio Cat does not hold MBE or FBE status. Their contract compliance number is 340672363, expires 06/07/09.
Fiscal Impact: $75,000.00 was budgeted in the 2008 Electricity Operating Fund for this purchase. There were no similar purchases in 2006 or 2007.
