Explanation
BACKGROUND: This Ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to modify and increase the professional engineering services contract with Dynamix Engineering Ltd. for the Hap Cremean Water Plant Asbestos Hazard Abatement & Heating System Replacement Project, Division of Power and Water Contract No. 1047.
This is an unplanned modification that will provide for preparation of "as-built" record drawings of the improvements constructed with this project. This service is typically included in engineering services contracts that provide for construction administration/ construction inspection services. This task was inadvertently omitted from the project scope of work and therefore was not funded in the original contract. The engineering consultant has gathered the necessary information to prepare these drawings as part of the inspection services performed under the original contract. This proposed modification will cover the cost of preparing CAD drawing files of the information, engineering review of the CAD drawings, and printing costs to submit the information to the City. The total amount of this modification is $10,000.00, a 3% increase in the contract amount.

2. Reasons additional goods/services could not be foreseen:
This work is typically included in engineering contracts that provide for Construction Administration/Construction Inspection services. The scope of work for these services was prepared by the design consultant and reviewed by the City project manager. As this is the first contract for this design consultant with the Division of Power and Water, he was not aware this task should have been included in his scope of work.
