Explanation
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Technology has a need to modify and renew a contract with Liebert Global Services, established by Ordinance No. 1160-2006, for annual maintenance and related services associated with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, utilized by the City's Department of Technology, associated with the computer and data centers at two separate locations. The original contract provided language that allows for modifications and renewals for additional coverage periods at the end of each year's coverage period, contingent upon the express written approval of all parties and the City's appropriation and authorization of funds.

The contract will provide for maintenance and related services associated with batteries and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, with Liebert Corporation, that allows continuous operations when power fluctuations and failures occur.

The Director of Technology respectfully request approval of this ordinance to allow the Department of Technology to modify and renew its annual maintenance service agreement in accordance with the terms and conditions established in the original agreement.

The total cost of $33,352.00 is for maintenance and related services for the UPS located at each computer center location, with a coverage period, for each location being from April 19, 2008 through April 18, 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT: Previous contracts for 2006 designated a total of $37,691.00 for services related to the UPS system, and $31,216.10 in 2007 for same services, with Liebert Global Corporation. Funding for this modification is budgeted and available within the 2008 Department of Technology's Information Services Fund's budget. This modification will cover twelve months of service ending April 18, 2009. Approval of this ordinance will bring the contract aggregate total to $102,259.10

EMERGENCY: Emergency legislation is requested to expedite authorization of this contract in order ...
