Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Finance and Management Director to enter into contract for the Office of Construction Management with Rockwood Builders, for the renovation of the Mayor's Policy Office, located on the first floor of City Hall, 90 West Broad Street. This project is necessary in order to provide adequate accommodations for the Mayor's Policy Staff. Upon completion, this project will add three new offices.

Formal bids were solicited and two companies submitted bids on May 6, 2008 as follows (1 AS1+, 1 ^FBE):

+Rockwood Builders $50,800.00
^Bomar Construction $58,619.00


The Office of Construction Management recommends the bid award be made to the most responsive and responsible and best bidder, Rockwood Builders.

EMERGENCY ACTION is requested to renovate the Mayor's Policy Office without delay, thereby providing necessary accommodations for the Mayor's Policy Staff.

Rockwood Builders Contract Compliance Number 31-1451643, Expiration date 06/25/2009.

FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient funding is available in the Construction Management Capital Improvement Budget, City Hall Renovation. The cost of this contract is $50,800.00.
