Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a contract for the installation of a street lighting system with underground wiring under the assessment procedure. Property owners have submitted a petition for a high pressure sodium street lighting system with ornamental poles and underground wiring for the Case Road area, including Case Road from Cleveland Avenue to the city corporation limit east of Walford Street. This legislation also authorizes the transfer of funds from the Voted Street Lighting and Electricity Distribution Improvements Fund for the City's share in the cost of installing the street lighting system.
Resolution No. 0094X-2007, adopted July 9, 2007, authorized the preparation of plans and specifications. Resolution of Necessity 0192X-2007 was adopted December 10, 2007. Ordinance Number 0449-2008, Determine to Proceed, was passed March 31, 2008.
Five bids were received and opened by the Director of Public Utilities on June 4, 2008, against Solicitation No. SA002903: U.S. Utility Contractor Co. $57,203.07; Jess Howard Electric $59,738.53; Tip-Dan Electric $60,649.27; Complete General $77,892.10; and M.P. Dory $87,244.30. The Division of Power and Water recommends an award to U.S. Utility Contractor Co., 3115 East Seventeenth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219, in the amount of $57,203.07, as the lowest, responsive, and responsible bid received. Their Contract Compliance Number is 34-1606689 (expires 2/28/10, F1).
