Explanation
BACKGROUND: Ordinance No. 1235-2011 authorized the Board of Health to accept grant monies for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness program from the Ohio Department of Health through the Centers for Disease Control. Ordinance No. 1405-2011 authorized the Board of Health to enter into a contract with Franklin County Public Health to maintain Public Health Emergency Preparedness in Franklin County. Additional funding from the Ohio Department of Health has been awarded and requires a modification to increase funds to the contract with Franklin County Public Health. This ordinance will authorize the modification and increase of the current contract with Franklin County Public Health for the time period ending August 9, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $37,411.60 (new contract total $338,765.83).
The purpose of the contract is to maintain a Public Health Emergency Preparedness/Emergency Response System in the event of bioterrorism activities in Franklin County. This contract is necessary per the requirements of the Ohio Department of Health, Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant.
Emergency action is requested to facilitate and expedite the Franklin County component of maintaining a public health emergency preparedness response in central Ohio prior to the end the end date of the grant, August 9, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant budget provides $338,765.83 for a contract with Franklin County Public Health and is contingent upon the passage of Ord. 1158-2012, appropriating the additional funds.
