Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the appropriation of $10,500.00 to the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund, Fund No. 291, for fiscal year 2014. This is the annual appropriation ordinance for the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund. It allows for the continued operations of the Central Ohio Medical Directors Coalition grant program. This ordinance also authorizes the Board of Health to accept a $10,000 grant from the not-for-profit Safe Kids Central Ohio Agency for child passenger safety classes.

Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.

FISCAL IMPACT: These grant projects are funded through grant awards from non-governmental agencies. Some grant projects may collect fees and some may be subsidized by donations.

Body

WHEREAS, the matter herein provided for constitutes an emergency in that it is immediately necessary to appropriate funds for the Health Department in the City’s Private Grants Fund for the 12 months beginning January 1, 2014, and ending December 31, 2014; and,

WHEREAS, it is necessary for City Council to authorize the Board of Health to accept a grant award it has received from the Safe Kids Central Ohio Agency to conduct child passenger safety classes; and,

WHEREAS, this ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible....
