.Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance is for the option to establish a Universal Term Contract (UTC) for Flocculator Tank/Sedimentation Basin Shaft Bearings for the Department of Public Utilities, Division of Water. This equipment will be used by the Hap Cremean and Dublin Road Water plant maintenance crews to perform maintenance and repair of the flocculation tanks and sedimentation basins. The term of the proposed option contract will be through August 31, 2020 with the option to extend one additional one year period, subject to mutual agreement of both parties. The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on May 18, 2017.

The Purchasing Office advertised and solicited competitive bids in accordance with the competitive bid section of the Columbus City Code (Solicitation RFQ005291). One bid was received (MAJ:1). After review, the Purchasing Office recommends an award be made to Applied Industrial Technologies for Items 1-16, 18-20, the lowest, responsive and best bidder:

Total Estimated Annual Expenditure: $100,000.00

This company is not debarred according to the Excluded Parties listing of the Federal Government and is not listed in the Auditor of State database for Findings for Recovery.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding to establish this option contract is budgeted in the General Fund. The Public Utilities Department will be required to obtain approval to expend from their appropriations.
