Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a construction contract with General Temperature Control, Inc. for the Jackson Pike Waste Water Treatment Plant Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Replacement Part 1 Project, CIP 650260-102010. The Jackson Pike Waste Water Treatment Plant HVAC System Replacement Part 1 will replace aged HVAC equipment that is beyond its service life. The unit being replaced with the contract is located in the Jackson Pike incinerator building. Repair parts for the existing unit can no longer be obtained.
PROJECT TIMELINE: Contract work is required to be completed in a manner acceptable to the City within 280 days from the date that a Notice to Proceed (NTP) is given by the City.
PROCUREMENT INFORMATION: The Division advertised for competitive bids for the subject services on the City's Vendor Services website and in the City Bulletin in accordance with the provisions of Section 329 of the Columbus City Code. ECONOMIC / ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Updating to a new HVAC unit will provide better energy efficiency, reduced heating cost, and prevent negative impacts from failure of the current units.
FISCAL IMPACT: This legislation authorizes the transfer of $169,000.00 and expenditure of $498,000.00 within the Sanitary Sewer General Obligation Bond Fund 6109 and amends the 2017 Capital Improvements Budget.
