Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Service to modify a professional services contract with Burgess & Niple, Inc. to add additional funds for design of the Traffic Signal Installation - Downtown Signals project.
Ordinance 2358-2013 authorized the Director of Public Service to enter into a professional services contract with Burgess & Niple, Inc. for the Traffic Signal Installation - Downtown Signals project. This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Service to modify the contract in the amount of $19,690.70.
This is a planned modification that is necessary to add additional funding to the project and also add to the scope. This is based on OPWC required meetings for applications for outside funding and scope modifications to address changes to the designs that that are required by outside agencies and that will reduce the oveall cost of the project. It was deemed to be more cost efficient to modify the existing contract than to advertise this part of the work.

Searches in the System for Award Management (Federal) and the Findings for Recovery list (State) produced no findings against Burgess & Niple, Inc.

The contract compliance number for Burgess & Niple, Inc. is CC004425 and expires 02/06/20.
3. FISCAL IMPACT
Funding in the amount of $19,690.70 is available within the Streets and Highways Bond Fund within the Department of Public Service. An amendment to the 2018 Capital Improvements Budget is necessary to align funding for these project expenditures.
