Background
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a contract with Danbert Electrical Corporation for Power Distribution Installation and Restoration for the Division of Power. This work consists of providing labor and equipment for removing and setting poles, installing and removing conductors and other such work as necessary at various locations within the Columbus Electric System on an as needed basis. Funds in the amount of $2,000.00 will also be encumbered with the Department of Public Service for Prevailing Wage Services.
The Department of Public Utilities solicited competitive bids for Power Distribution Installation and Restoration in accordance with the relevant provisions of Section 329 (RFQ023467). Three hundred and fifteen (315) vendors were solicited. Five bids were received and opened on December 21, 2022.
After a review of the bids, New River Electrical Corporation was the lowest bidder. However, they failed to meet the bid specifications requiring a 10% MBE/WBE goal which deemed the bid non-responsive.
Danbert Electrical Corporation was the next lowest bidder and met all the specifications of the bid. Therefore, the Division of Power recommends an award be made to Danbert Electrical Corporation as the most responsive, responsible and best bidder.
The contract will be in effect from the date of execution to and including July 21, 2025 with the option to renew for one additional year. If unforeseen issues or difficulties are encountered that would require additional funding, a modification would be required.
